Yar Criminal Appeal Denied HAVANA (AP) - Former Ar my Capt. Pedro Morejon Saturday awaited execution as a war crim inal after his appeal was denied by Cuba's supreme revolutionary tribunal. The tribunal rejected Morejon's appeal from a lower court death sentence on charges of assassina tion, homicide, robbery, inccdiar ism and damage. A Havana radio station said It understood Morejon would face a firing squad Satuurday but this could not be officially confirmed. The ony recourse left to More jon under the revolutionary penal code is a direct appeal to revolu tionary leader Fidel Castro, now commander in chief of the na tion's armed forces.. " Morejon's execution would be the first in the Havana area. An unofficial total of 262 supporters of ousted dictator Fulgencio Ba tista have been shot elsewhere in the country.- . . Lewis suffered a minor heart attack in 1955. reka, gave a most enlightening Ik on one of the most important equisites t ohave a productive s well as a beautiful garden ood, rich soil. He described first how soil is a omplex study, and how it is at ected by climate, vegetation, and hat its makeup includes air, v. a minerals and . organic natter, and he further told how onus, plants and many other factors work on it, to change its tructure. Color of the sou means little, except that dark soil is con sidered generally more fertile. Lrebbin then told how in plan ning a garden for certain varieties of flowers or plants, texture of soil is important, with preference being placed on sandy loam. If the soil is inclined to be heavy, the addition of sand can produce the required texture wanted. Also additions of humas, chemical com pounds, sawdust, plant foods and nitrogen, serve as excellent aids to soils. Grading of the land will eliminate drainage problems. Since lack of iron in the soil causes plant leaves to turn yellow or pale, there are many sprays on the market that are helpful in eliminating that particular prob lem. Final advice made by Crebbin was that in planning a garden, be sure that the soil is two or three feet deep, of good texture, with plenty of humus added to it, keep it reasonably damp, well weeded and cultivate it. In appreciation of Crebbin giv ing his time to present the talk to the club, members presented him with a new rose bush for his garden. Following the talk by Crebbin. Mrs. Henrietta Terwilliger, presi dent of the garden club, conduct ed the business session, which in cluded a report by Mrs. Ernest Lilly, garden therapy chairman, who reported that decorations had been sent to the Siskiyou County General Hospital in Yrcka for Christmas, and that cards had been sent to people who were ill throughout the month.
